Dear respected Drivers and Operator’s
QR Code Check-In mandatory for all Point to Point Transport Vehicles, including Taxis in NSW
As per the latest Health Order update from NSW Health, QR Code Check-In will be mandatory for all Point to Point Transport Vehicles, including Taxis in NSW from Monday 12 July 2021.
Effective Monday 12 July 2021, the following is compulsory, while operating Point to Point Transport Services, including Taxis in NSW:
The Owner of the vehicle (Operator) providing passenger services must register as COVID Safe with Service NSW. The vehicle owner will then be given a unique QR code to be displayed in the vehicle.
The owner is the person who is listed on the vehicle’s registration documentation
The owner of the vehicle is responsible for printing the QR code and ensuring it is in the vehicle and able to be easily accessed by passengers.
A Driver should not use a vehicle that is not displaying a Service NSW QR code
The Driver should check in to the vehicle by scanning the QR Code before starting a shift and check-out at the end of their shift.
Drivers should ask passengers to check in using the Service NSW QR code in their vehicle.
If a passenger refuses to check-in, the driver can refuse the passenger entry to the vehicle, as outlined in the Public Health Order.
Please note that the NSW Taxi Council has urgently requested for the Point to Point Transport Commission to provide guidelines for the following;
What is required when a passenger is crossing the border
What happens if the passenger does not have a mobile phone or device to scan the QR Code.
We will provide you a further update on the above.
